This summer, we made the decision to take our family vacation in Bend, OR. Bend is characterized by the high desert climate, notably different from the wetter climate on the west side of the Cascades (where Portland is), but its craft beer scene and its many options for outdoor adventure.
It was a pretty low-key affair and more than anything, it was just a good break from the everyday slog of life at home, but while we were there, we definitely took the opportunity to do some activities that we wouldn’t ordinarily be able to do.
For example, we took Ellie and Jack horseback riding which went really well. Jack definitely needed some convincing, but once he realised he was OK, he loved it up on the horse. Continue reading “Family vacation to Bend, OR [VIDEO]”
Ellie has always been pretty fascinated with planes and loves going to the airport, so she gets even more excited when she gets to go on a plane.
Almost every flight that she’s been on now, she’s been invited into the cockpit and on this latest flight, we got the best pictures yet of her. I think the pilot’s hat suits her quite well! Continue reading “A pilot in the making”
This 4th of July, we took a trip to MA and NH to visit family, attend a christening and enjoy the summer in New England.
While there, Ellie got to know her second cousins Addison, Mason and Emmerson much better and enjoyed all sorts of outings and events, like the 4th of July parade, Santa’s Village and she even got to sit in the cockpit of the plane that took her to Boston! While I was getting a rare first-thing-in-the-morning snuggle from Ellie, I decided to try and take a photo, but when I did, and she could see herself on my phone screen, she started playing with her mouth and watching the image on the screen repeat her, which intrigued her and made for a nice little video. Continue reading “Selfie video [VIDEO]”
Today, Ellie randomly offered out her hand as if for a handshake, which made for a good 5 minutes of handshakes, introductions and giggles. Continue reading “Nice to meet you [VIDEO]”
Taking an opportunity to see Granny, we went to Westow’s to play while it was cold and wet outside. While a little timid at first, Ellie got a bit more adventurous and started playing and moving around by herself. Continue reading “Playing in a soft-play area [VIDEO]”
After deciding that she’s quite good (and adorable) at saying hello, Ellie kept on playing with the word and it has possible been her favourite word of the trip (either that or “Max” or “Ace”). Continue reading “You say goodbye, I say hello [VIDEO]”
Before Mama and I went to go and see Max playing basketball, Max and Nicola got to spend a little time with Ellie. Continue reading “A day with Max and Nicola”
Very randomly and unexpectedly, after favouring “hi” as her salutation of choice, Ellie started mimicking the word “hello”, repeating it back to us, and then saying it to her own reflection in the mirror. Continue reading “Learning to say hello [VIDEO]”
