I know. It’s been a long time. Because moving, life, busyness etc. But I’m here now.
We’ve been up to a lot since we got to Oregon back in March. We absolutely love it here and have done our fair share of exploring, getting out and about, and enjoying the outdoors. Continue reading “The last many months”
This 4th of July, we took a trip to MA and NH to visit family, attend a christening and enjoy the summer in New England.
While there, Ellie got to know her second cousins Addison, Mason and Emmerson much better and enjoyed all sorts of outings and events, like the 4th of July parade, Santa’s Village and she even got to sit in the cockpit of the plane that took her to Boston! Continue reading “Ellie’s trip to NH and MA over 4th of July”
In Florida, there’s many variations to describe what seasons we have: “Hot and hotter” and “Spring and summer” are just a couple of those.
Whatever you call them, yesterday was “only” 80°F (27°C) with low humidity and a bit of a breeze, so we made the most of it and went on a bike ride before summer arrives and we stay holed up for half the year. Continue reading “Enjoying what remains of spring”
On Valentine’s Day, I was supposed to take Ellie on a date while Marti took Jack on a date. Ellie and I had agreed to go to the airport because she had shown such an interest in airports after reading her book Ellie’s First Plane Ride where a toy elephant takes her friend toy penguin on a trip to the airport and then on the plane, with photos of them riding the escalators, the monorail and getting their miniature luggage at baggage claim.
However, Valentine’s Day rolled around and I was feeling wretched, and ended up spending all day in bed. So we rescheduled for the following weekend, except Mama and Jack joined us. Continue reading “A date at Tampa International Airport”
There are a few months of the year when Florida is quite delightful, starting in about November and lasting until February. Outside of that is just hot and nasty. So when this time of year rolls around, we do our best to make the most of it.
The other night I came home and was greeted at the garage door by Ellie who said:
Daddy, I suggested that when you came home, that we all go on a bike ride together and Jack can come too.

After getting a feel for motorcycles a couple of weeks ago, Ellie seems to love them! We took the opportunity while we were at a birthday party the other day to get on the motorcycle games and Ellie loved getting into racing position. Continue reading “Ellie seems to love motorbikes!”
Yesterday, we all went to Fox Squirrel Corn Maze to have some traditional autumnal fun.
Not only was it Ellie’s first hayride, but it was mine too. We had fun playing in the cornbox, admiring butterflies, eating grilled corn and picking out pumpkins. Jack even had a good old time. Continue reading “Fun on the farm”
Being that as a family, we’re vegan, we tend to shy away from places like Publix for our food shopping so that we can get some more specialised food and a wider range of options.
We used to go to Whole Foods in Tampa, and still do, but we’ve also fallen in love with a local natural foods store called Rollin’ Oats.
Ellie likes going there too, since they have shopping carts (trollies) for kids. Fortunately, we have trained her well and she knows the correct aisles to shop in. Continue reading “Doing our grocery shopping”
Ellie came to visit me at work the other day, and when I had to go back to my desk to get on a conference call, she joined me and enjoyed listening in on the phone. Continue reading “Busy on sales calls”
Despite Ellie having a cold and feeling crumby, she mustered up the strength to check out the new Trader Joe’s in St Pete. They were handing out stickers, which Ellie made good use of after seeing Daddy stick one on his forehead. Continue reading “Trader Joe’s tomfoolery”
